A DesIA Jam is a collaborative format for exploring design challenges with design-based instruments. The DesIA Jam format takes inspiration from the Global Service Jam format proposed by the Global Jams movement (Global Jams, n.d.). This kind of format is jamming-based activities generally performed in 24 or 48 hours with people who are not necessarily experts in a subject matter addressed in the main collaborative activities. Traditionally, the design jams are co-design-based activities that can provide a space for mutual learning and networking, while also doing practical experiences in design (cf. Kuzmina et al., 2016).
Specifically, the DesIA Jams have been ideated as co-design spaces that focus on global challenges by taking inspiration from the future with the help of expert-driven interventions.
