The collaborative design stands for all those activities that establish a design process where collaboration is the main attribute of the whole process among the actors of the design focus. Canonically, co-design as a specific instance of co-creation, refers “to the creativity of designers and people not trained in design working together in the design development process” (Sanders & Stappers, 2008). In co-design processes, multiple actors with different backgrounds and (eventually) expertise collaborate towards the design objectives. Co-design “of this sort is quintessentially interdisciplinary” (Schober, 2008). However, in a connected world, almost all the design processes can be considered as co-design – i.e. “in the networks all design is co-design” (Manzini, 2014).
